I have started to compile a list of significant events, anniversaries, UN days and other important "goings-on" that will occur over the course of the year. I think it will be a good way to frame important issues that we will be dealing with throughout the year, and help position the students as aware global citizens.
For example, I was unaware that November 21st is World Television Day, and even more surprised to find out the powers that be have chosen December 11th to honour... Mountains?
"Mountains - Climb 'em!"
I'd love to hear any ideas anybody has about important events and days to observe and discuss. That being said, be sure not to miss the Perseid Meteor shower tonight and tomorrow night.
